This is such a wonderful game to play! The movement endings would be great to speedrun. I just wish it was longer and slightly more refined, but overall this is one of my favourite itch games! (played on mac)
It sounds like your internet connection might just be failing during the download? It's 351 MB so a relatively large file. Sorry, there's nothing I can do to help with that.

You shouldn't need the full Microsoft Visual C++, just the Visual C++ Redistributable that I link right above the download, in the install instructions ...
I've always wondered what it'd be like to be a tree. Now, thanks to this incredibly detailed simulation I was able to experience it firsthand. Thank you! 💜
This was such a fun game! The endings were entertaining to get, and I got all 16 plus all the traingles/fractals in about 2 hours (all endings I show in the video as well). Although frustrating at times (especially the bird ending) it was well made and well worth the time to play. The controls reminded me of Getting Over It to some extent, though they were not nearly as intentionally frustrating as that game is.
How to Be a Tree is random but worth it, if you're debating downloading it, I would recommend for an hour or 2 of nonsensical shenanigans!
I am actually not sure if I cleared all of the game or not. I got all of the triangles, and seem to have opened every path, but I don't know where to go after getting all paths and triangles?

I like this game. It's simple and sweet :)
If you decide to delete the game, it's still in AppData. Press Win + R, run "%APPDATA%", then look for a folder called "howtobeatree".

Anyone know how to reset progress? I wanna replay through the game from the beginning without the abilities and the progress of hopping to any level.
Sorry it's a little buried -- Press 'Escape' to bring up the menu, then choose "Back," then "Clear Save / Restart"

Maybe you don't have enough space in your computer? Or you are trying to download the mac version.

when i press download it just cancels it :(
so im on windows and i cant download the game when it finishes it then proceeds to say download failed even though i have every thing i need installed

i have a very stable internet connection plus ive downloaded files larger than this with no issues
Hmm, sorry I just don't know what's happening then; I am able to download the file fine, and I don't control the itch io website.
Thats actually because the antivirus is blocking it, Threapier38 Disable your antivirus stuff and download it
It's probably because you're trying to install the mac version.
i mean if you actually looked at the image up close you can see the windows version being downloaded

I can't start the game, I've unzipped the file and whenever I try to run the program a command console shows up
